Inspiring as always Charlotte! It’s so easy to make excuses, and ‘not enough’ time is number 1. You’ve pulled the rug out from that one! 😂

Oh I've used all of these excuses as well! This is such a lovely reminder to get out of my own way and just draw the damn things. Thank you!

Oh that all rings so true Charlotte maybe I should add to that ‘I’m not really a sketchbook person’ but I remind myself that it’s all good practice and still informs my work- also always having a sketchbook in my bag is a physical reminder!

Oh, all the excuses we make to stop us drawing!! But, as you say, it’s always worth it!! Lovely to see lots of your sketches in this post - I love a sneak peek at a sketchbook! Xx

There really is no excuse, but if I can only stop for a few moments I take a photo and sketch later. Nothing beats drawing in situ though!

Great concept, lovely sketches, thanks for sharing. I was doing a small hike for “health” today and I did spend five minutes drawing- you inspired me!

This is a very comforting read, Charlotte! I do all of these especially the no time one! I love how you juggle multiple materials even in the fastest drawings.

Oh yes, all of these are on my excuses-to-not-draw list, and the ‘I’m not good enough’ is written in caps. But I’ve got one more, ‘it is not interesting enough to draw.’ I loved your post; it's such a good reminder to do it anyway, no matter what.

Love this post Charlotte, thank you!

So easy to make an excuse isn't it... this post has definitely bedded in the 'just get on with it' phrase in my head so thank you!

Also looking forward to making some pre prepped pages to add stuff too when out and about. A splash or colour or a scribble here and there might make it easier to 'just do it' (without trying to sound too NIKEEEEEE!).

I'm totally not digital in my work (drawing wise anyway) BUT have found an iPHONE pen (or fat finger) and the sketchbook app is great for a completely impromptu doodle when tools have been left behind. Had a lovely time sketching littles in the sandpit last weekend on my phone.

THANK YOU thank you thank you, great post! x

Charlotte, please know, that reading about your process and viewing your sketches are/were/will continue to be such an honor. I am in the depths of grief over both of my parents dying last month and your views on the world have just now opened mine. Thank you!

All these excuses plus the big one for me that says "I don't know even where to start, don't bother taking the sketchbook out" 😬 thanks for sharing Charlotte, it actually made me want to sketch outside!

I needed to read this today- I’m distracted by so many things at the moment . Thank you for the reminder to do the little bits of sketching in between it all 🤎
