Ahh fantastic read Charlotte! And yes I do have a sketchbook like that! A beautiful big orange Pith one I got when Naomi came over and it’s still empty!! Also I LOVE Deborah Levy - Swallowing Geography is an all time favourite but haven’t read the autobiographies- you’ve inspired me to do something about both ☺️
🙌🙌 Yayy! I’m so glad it’s not just me that has sketchbooks stored away! I haven’t read Swallowing Geography - will look that up. I just listened to her Desert Island Discs and it was great.
Yes, please share a post on RISO - I find it so difficult to make work what i want it to do - without going through a million masters to get the intensity right. Have a brilliant 2024 Charlotte x
I missed your Newsletter Charlotte, but quire understand it was an demanding year (and we often don't have time to do it all!) ❤️ you already know I do love your work and reading you about it is always a nice complement. I have the same intention for 2024 - draw every day 😊🤞 Merry Christmas to you and all your family 🎄😘 p.s.-that book of Colours in Film must be so good, added to my list as I love colour 🤩
Always enjoy your posts, Charlotte! Looks like 2023 had lots of blues and oranges—curious what colors might emerge in your work next year! That Christmas Eve warmup made me smile. Honestly, I could use a good stretch like that myself before all the frenzy hits in a couple of days! Hope you enjoy your holidays. 💫
Thanks so much Erika. That’s so kind! I’m really enjoying blues and oranges. I think the colours I’ve used most in my sketchbook are peach and dark green. Happy holidays to you too!
Thanks for sharing your round up. I've just got back into fantasy novel reading for the first time in years and it feels very wholesome to not be in front of my phone as much. I'm hoping to continue that. X
That's a great idea to draw in the semi darkness, your drawings have lovely atmosphere! The Deborah Levy book looks interesting, I'll have to look it up. Happy christmas!🌟🎄✨

Yes I’ve made a lot of masters! I’m definitely still finding my way but will post some things that have helped. Have a lovely 2024 too x

Ahh that’s lovely to hear. What have you been reading? X
Oh sorry I missed this reply! I've just finished a series about Dragon Keepers but for the life of me I forget the writers name 🫣

I can recommend drawing when you can’t really see what you’re doing! Happy Christmas and thanks for reading!
Really lovely read, I’ve been doing the same. Showing up with a sketchbook daily and trying to play around more.
Thanks so much Sam. That sounds so good. Hope you have a creative 2024.
