#013 Inspiring Books from Bologna Children's Book Fair
Shape and design joy, things to spot and beautiful die-cut pages.

The Birthday Present, Bruno Munari

The Circus in the Mist, Bruno Munari

I bought these two books from the Corraini Edizioni stand. I love the use of different types and sizes of paper AND die-cut pages with all sizes of circles!
The Illustrators Annual

This features the artwork from the Illustrators Exhibition. The cover image is by Sydney Smith.
Pippini, Giovanni Colaneri

It begins with a child telling their mum that they’ve seen a bee on their balcony and wondering where it will go next. The following pages are silent and have so much detail for the reader to enjoy. There are things to spot on each page.
The Border Trilogy, Suzy Lee

I was so glad to find this book. I borrowed it from the library last year and it’s great to have my own copy. Lee describes the concept behind the trilogy, her process and play.
Filomini, Alice Brière-Haquet and Loïc Gaume

Part of a series which is shape-based with a limited palette and an amazing die-cut circle on the cover.
Il Polpo ha Zero Ossa, Anne Richardson and Andrea Antinori

A counting book with number facts. I love the playful use of shape. The title translates to ‘The octopus has zero bones’.
Incantesimi, Blexbolex

It translates to ‘The Magicians’ in English. So much colour and shape and on beautiful paper.
Tutto e Musica, Marin Park

I saw some of the illustrations in this book in the Illustrators Exhibition at the fair last year and loved them.
Thanks for reading,
Charlotte
Lovely collection of books!
Oh wow! What an amazing selection, thank you for sharing them Charlotte! The octopus cover page turn to the endpapers is brilliant!
