#008 Introducing More Access to My Sketchbooks
Sketchbook tour reels, process, research, picturebooks, colour and design from a Messy Desk Dispatch monthly newsletter.
Hello all
I’ve been really enjoying posting on Substack and am planning to spend more time here. So this month I’m launching a paid tier for subscribers who want to see more of my sketchbooks, be more motivated to draw and take a closer look at my process and the things that inspire me.
I’ve just started my final year in an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. It’s going to be an exciting year full of experimentation, research and above all, PLAY! I thought this would be a good time to share more of my practice and would love you to join me.
Free posts
I will still continue to post newsletters that are free to all every few months as I am so grateful for your support and for following me on Substack and Instagram. I really enjoy this community and I want to make sure some content is free to everyone.
A paid subscription to a monthly newsletter
If you feel you would like to find out more and support my work, I will be releasing a newsletter each month for paid subscribers.
You can expect:
A heads up about prints and zines that I will be launching in my shop.
A monthly Messy Desk Dispatch newsletter which may feature:
sketchbook pages
a sketchbook tour
notes on colour and design
creative play projects
materials testing
insights into my process
research I’ve been carrying out on my MA in Children’s Book Illustration
picturebooks
exhibitions and inspiration
There is also a Founding Member option which comes with an additional bonus of a limited edition exclusive Riso print I have made to say a big thank you.
Here’s a sneak peak of the sketchbook reel in my first post which is about sketchbook goals and how I motivate myself to keep creating.
If you would like to become a paid subscriber. You can do that here
Subscribers’ sketchbook peek
Here is a spread from a new sketchbook. I’m going to work quickly in it using simple materials during half term to keep practising drawing people.
A picturebook I love
This is a beautiful book in which the main character is the subway train. It has wonderful page turns such as the one above which take the reader into the lives of the commuters.
Thanks for reading.
I’ll be sending out a free post for all subscribers in late March. If you become a paid subscriber today you will be sent the February Messy Desk Dispatch later this week.
